Repairing Cracks in Machine Parts After a hydrogen-chlorine gas circulating compressor in a factory had an accident of burning bushes and holding the shaft due to oil failure, a main uranium bearing seat on the fuselage produced two axial cracks with a depth of about 25mm. The material is HT85-25 with poor weldability. If the crack is repaired by surfacing welding, it is easy to produce large deformation and residual stress, and the workload of removing excess welding meat is large. So, it was decided to use Belzona Ultra Metal Repair. This is a two-component adhesive composed of polymer and high silicon-containing metal powder, and the repaired bearing housing was inspected in good condition after 14 months of operation.
